Therapy dogs can have an amazing effect on a sick or elderly individual, the benefits are numerous. If you haven’t had a chance to experience it, you must – it is truly incredible to watch a sick child’s face light up when a dog enters the room. We are so proud to be able to provide this awesome gift to someone that wants to give back to his or her community. Not every dog will be cut out for therapy but we can help assess, train, and certify your dog for therapy work if he is. Even if you do not yet own a dog but are interested, we can certify handlers and match you with a canine partner that is certified at local hospitals and nursing homes. We are lucky to be partnered with Paws for People foundation who train and place many service dogs through out the country. We have a “preparatory” class for you to take before the certification day, which helps prepare owners and their dogs. Once you pass the certification, you will be able to join other clients of ours and visit local hospitals and nursing homes to help lift spirits. Check our calendar out to see when our next class and certification will be held; you must sign up in advance.
